Srinagar | Nights remained cold due to below normal minimum temperature in the Kashmir valley and Ladakh region, where Leh with minus 7.2 degrees Celsius remained coldest followed by Gulmarg with minus 2.7 degrees this morning.
A Met department spokesman said here today despite mainly dry weather over Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours, the minimum will remain below normal. There would be no large change in the weather during subsequent two days, he forecast.
He said Leh in Ladakh region recorded minus 7.2 degree minimum temperature this morning, resulting in severe cold during the night. In the valley, Gulmarg was the coldest after the mercury dropped to minus 2.7 degrees, about three degrees below normal. The upper reaches in the famed Ski resort had recently received moderate snowfall while Gulmarg slopes experienced few inches of snowfall, much to the delight of tourists.
Spokesman said health resort of Pahalgam recorded minus 1.5 degrees minimum temperature this morning.
The Srinagar also recorded 1.3 degrees minimum temperature this morning, which was one degree below normal. He said the night temperature will drop further and settled at one degrees tomorrow, again one degree below normal. After clear weather in the morning, the sky become partly cloudy as the day progressed.
The minimum remained below normal elsewhere in the Kashmir valley. Weather will remain mainly clear in Jammu where the maximum temperature will be around 28 degrees and minimum 13 degrees tomorrow, he said. Agencies
