Srinagar, Nov 07: Taking note of the alleged negligence towards a pregnant woman, the government has attached two doctors of the District Hospital, Pulwama, with the chief medical officers office.
Following a complaint by one Shabbir Ahmad of Chakoora, the deputy commissioner ordered the attachment of Dr Hafeeza (B-grade specialist) and Dr Saira Tabassum (assistant surgeon) with the CMO pending further enquiry into the matter. An order No DDCP/Misc-12/8254-58 has been issued on November 2, 2012.
The order mentions the preliminary findings of the assistant commissioner (Revenue), Shah Faisal, on the complaint. Further, it says a full-fledged enquiry would be conducted after which a final call on the issue would be taken. The deputy commissioner has written to the director, Health Service, to shift the staff which had overstayed in the District Hospital to prevent vested interests from having their way.
According to the complaint, the pregnant wife of Shabbir Ahmad with labor pain had been admitted in the hospital where the doctors allegedly paid no attention to her during the night which resulted in the babys death in the womb. In panic, the doctors took the patient for surgery and hurriedly referred her to Srinagar where the woman and her baby died, it alleged.
