SRINAGAR – Well known social activist and Chairperson Kashmir Centre for Social & Developmental Studies (KCSDS), Prof Hamida Nayeem has been denied permission by the authorities to visit Pakistan Administered Kashmir as part of a delegation of women put together by Centre for Dialogue and Reconciliation, which left for PaK via LoC today.
These conferences are supposed to be confidence building measures but even here permission to cross the LoC has been given selectively, only to those who suit the state and those who have been questioning and criticizing the state for violating human rights have been singled out and permission has not been granted to them, said Prof Hameeda Nayeem.
She said, Mostly those people who have no understanding of the issue and no political position have been selectively taken and would only talk of softer issues of common concern to women anywhere.
Meanwhile, Zamarud Habib has also been denied the permission to cross over to PaK. (KNS)
