SRINAGAR – In connection with arrangements of forthcoming Muharram-ul-Haram, an officers meeting was held here today under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Mr. Baseer Ahmad Khan. The officers of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Regional Transport Officer, Police, Public Works Department, R&B, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Health, Forest, Power Development Department, Public Health Engineering and representatives of Shia community attended the meeting.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar while reviewing the availability of various essential commodities in the district directed the officers to provide food grains, sugar, kerosene oil, LPG and other basic amenities to the people particularly belonging to Shia Community before Muharram-ul-Haram so that people may not face any problem during this auspicious month.
He also directed the officers of the Forest department to provide firewood to the people in addition to other essential commodities. The Deputy Commissioner also directed the PDD authorities and Municipal Corporation to constitute a survey team for replacing old electric poles with new ones and install street lights in Shia dominated areas.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed PHE authorities to make available safe drinking water for people during this month. The officers of Municipal Corporation were directed to ensure clean and hygienic environment in and around Imam Baras and the places where from processions would be drawn during these days.
