Landmine panics border residents in Samba

JAMMU – A live anti-personnel landmine recovered from the bordering belt created panic among the residents of Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir. “

A villager yesterday noticed a landmine (2001-02 made) lying in a ditch at village Abtaal of Ramgarh Sector and informed the police,” official sources here today said.

 A police party, along with bomb disposal squad, immediately rushed to the spot and seized the device. “It was an anti-personnel mine and could have caused damage if exploded,” they said. The landmine was being diffused by the bomb disposal squad, and the matter was being investigated, sources added.
