BAGHDAD – Irans Ambassador to Baghdad Hassan Danaeifar says Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad plans to visit neighboring Iraq in the near future.
Danaeifar said on Sunday that President Ahmadinejad would visit Iraq to hold talks with Iraqi officials in November or early December.
Referring to the second International Conference on the Global Fight against Terrorism, which is slated to be held in Iraq, the Iranian ambassador said Iraqi officials have not announced the date of the conference yet.
The first International Conference on the Global Fight against Terrorism was held in Tehran in late June 2011. Senior officials from at least 60 countries and representatives from several international organizations including the UN attended the two-day meeting.
Iran, having suffered a long record of the killing of its officials in bombings and other acts of terror since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, regards itself a victim of terrorism.
