JAMMU – Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Mr Sham Lal Sharma today chaired a meeting of representatives of WAPCOF Limited a Government of India, Ministry of Water Resources Undertaking, to discuss the implementation of the flood protection and Training of River Chenab to be under taken under Flood Control Exigency Plan.
The WAPCOF Limited, engaged by the state government as Project consultant, would undertake Geological, Hydraulical investigation and design to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the River Chenab project.
The Project envisages flood protection and training of the River Chenab from Akhnoor to Hamirpur Sidhar on Indo-Pak border.
The company is also entrusted with the job of seeking technical approval from Central water Commission and Ministry of Water Resources for the implementation of the project.
The state government has set a six month time to complete the survey for preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
The Minister sought information about various aspects of the project and directed the WAPCOF authorities to take up the survey at the earliest and complete the same in the stipulated time frame.
The Managing Director WAPCOF, Chief Engineer Flood Control and other senior officers of the concerned department attended the meeting.
