SRINAGAR (ONS) – Barely a day after the media highlighted the existence of three cooking gas connections in his name, Jammu and Kashmir chief minister, Omar Abdullah, Saturday surrendered two of them.
“As promised, two of the three LPG connections surrendered this morning,” Omar wrote on social networking site, Twitter.
Reacting to the reports about the three active connections, all in Srinagar, Omar had yesterday promised to surrender two of these this morning.
“… Didn’t realize I had 3 connections in my name. Will surrender 2 of those connections 1st thing tomorrow,” Omar had tweeted yesterday.
Thanking the media for bringing the matter to his notice, as if he were unaware of it, the chief minister hoped it (media) would highlight more of those having multiple connections.
“Thanks for bring(ing) this to my attention. I’m sure you’ll be just as diligent in letting us know who else has multiple connections,” Omar wrote.
The state, particularly the valley, has witnessed street protests during recent weeks against the recently announced 6-cylinder cap on subsidized LPG. The issue had dominated the proceedings of the autumn session of the state legislature.
However, the government has approached the centre to raise the cap for Jammu and Kashmir in view of its harsh winters.
