‘Not Just Tughlak Shahi, It’s Sinister’

Reverse South Kashmir LPG Link With Jammu: PDP

SRINAGAR – Describing the decision of the state government to delink south Kashmir from the valley’s cooking gas grid as Tughlak Shahi, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today said it smacked of political apartheid.

In a statement here today party MLAs Muhammad Rafi Mir and Peerzada Mansoor Husein said the state government for some mysterious reasons has linked south Kashmir with Jammu rail head for receiving gas cylinders for the four districts of Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian and Pulwama instead of Pampore, where from rest of the valley receives its supplies.

Urging the government to reverse this sinister decision the legislators said there was no valid reason for it and the earlier arrangement should be restored immediately. They said in Jammu the South Kashmir districts have to share the facility with the districts of that region and even in normal times remain in queue for days. They expressed apprehension that in winters this could go worse when the highway is prone to frequent blockades.

The legislators said while the entire country was reeling under the impact of price rise our state had to face the non availability of cooking gas as well. With no relief in sight South Kashmir might face the worst prospect of total fuel blockade which could trigger a humanitarian crisis, the MLAs said. They cautioned the government against such a dreadful scenario and said it should desist from testing the patience of people any further.
