Srinagar, Nov 01: Director Social Welfare Kashmir inspected Kishori Shakti Yojana Unit, set up by ICDS project of Srinagar and Ganderbal at Trade Fair Exhibition cum Sale held at Sangarmal Shopping complex here today.
Khawaja Bashir Ahmad Bhat accompanied by Deputy Director Administration Social Welfare, Mrs. Rifat Aarif, Programme Officer ICDS, Srinagar and Ganderbal districts, Mrs. Mathura Masoom, Assistant Director Schemes Social Welfare, Mrs. Tabasum Kamli, Assistant Director Administration Social Welfare, Mrs. Supriya Kohli, CDPO Srinagar, Mrs. Samar Naik and CDPO Khanyar, Mrs. Rubina Hamid interacted with the craftswomen and customers and obtained first-hand information about the pace of implementation of centrally sponsored Kishori Shakti Yojana at the grass root level and its benefits to the concerned beneficiaries.
Bhat on the occasion while giving resume of the scheme said that under the scheme, adolescent girls in the age group of 11-18 are provided supplementary nutrition, besides are empowered by skill development to set up their own units and to make them economically independent. He said that Social Welfare department also provides basic health education to adolescent girls under the scheme.
He said during 11 months of training in cutting and tailoring, knitting, crewel embroidery, sozni, paper machie, tilla, the girls are given stipend also.
He said that the products prepared by these girls during the training include bags, bed sheets, suits, table covers, sweaters and other mini items of important nature.
