Jammu: Kashmiri Pandits on Wednesday appealed to the Jammu and Kashmir government to provide a sum of Rs 50 lakh for rehabilitation and settlement of every displaced family.
“We appeal to the government to grant one-time lump sum compensation of Rs 50 lakh to every migrant family and construct a satellite township in Kashmir valley at a safe and secure place for return and rehabilitation of the migrants,” Jagti Tenement Committee President S L Pandit said.
Expressing concern over problems being faced by the community, Pandit also sought implementation of Prime Minister’s employment package in letter and spirit by getting the vacant posts filled.
He also demanded that government should advertise additional 500 posts under Class IV category so that the students who could not continue their studies beyond matriculation can also be absorbed under government jobs. (Agencies)
