Srinagar, Nov 01: Army foiled an infiltration attempt in the Hajipir sector of Uri along the Line of Control claiming it had killed two militants.
Giving details, Brig G S Rawat of Armys Rampur brigade told reporters that militants had made an attempt to infiltrate into this side of the LoC in the Hajipir sector under the cover of thick fog on Wednesday morning.
He said the troops launched an operation to nab the infiltrators and in the ensuing gun-battle two of them were injured. However, the injured militants managed their return to the other side before succumbing.
The official said 100-150 people were seen offering Jinaza prayer on the other side of the LoC suggesting that the injured militants had died. Some arms and ammunition were also seized from the encounter site.
