Work on New Children Hospital To Begin Soon: Govt

Srinagar – The Jammu and Kashmir Government has assured the civil society activists of the valley that work on the proposed new pediatric hospital in the city will begin soon as the Detailed Project Report has already been finalized.

“In a meeting held between the health department of the JK state and the members of Civil Society Forum Kashmir various issues of health care were discussed. The commissioner secretary health who was chairing the meeting has assured the civil society progress in the paediatric hospital project is satisfactory and comprehensive”, read a statement of the CFSK issued here.

The members were informed that the Detailed Project Report has been completed and a working on the hospital is expected to begin in month of November, added the statement. Various members of the civil society in the meeting observed that it was good that constructing agency has taken consultation of a hospital architect. However the funds for pediatric hospital are to be generated by state goverment which makes this project dependent on Finance and planning departments.

The group also stressed that all the departments involved should show eagerness and the work in coordination to put this project on a fast track. Other issues like implementation of drug policy, check on spurious drugs, mental health programme and hospital security were also discussed in the meeting. The CSFK tried to bring to the fore that all the issues related to health care should be identified and solutions should be found. If we are insensitive towards them then not only we but even our future generations will suffer due to lack of medical and health facilities.
