6-Day Handloom Mela At Navratra Fest

Govt Offers 10% Rebate On Products

Jammu – As part of Navratra Festival, the Directorate of Handlooms Development Department organized a 6-day District Level Handloom Mela on the eve of Shard Navratras at  Mata Vaishno Devi Spiritual Growth Centre, Katra.

Commenced from 17th of October the event is being sponsored by Union Ministry of Textiles in which Handloom Cooperative Societies are participating from various districts of Jammu and Kashmir

The societies have displayed their handloom products like linen cloth in various designs and shades, cotton bed sheets  of famous Samba brand woollen blankets and loies of Poonch and Rajouri districts, pashmina and semi pashmina shawls of Basohli, check blankets, and shawls Kishwari, Kashmir pashmina shawls, stole, cotton kurta pajamas and tweed coats, blazers etc.

The mela is witnessing overwhelming response of the people visiting from all over the country due to heavy rush on Navratras.

The sale of these goods is encouraging to the weavers to exhibit their products and get good returns.

A special discount of 10 percent is also being offered on handloom products made by the cooperative societies to the consumers during the mela.
