Floriculture Deptt Generates Revenue Of Rs 3 Cr This Fiscal
Srinagar – Minister for Horticulture & Floriculture, . Sham Lal Sharma today visited the heritage Mughal Gardens Shalimar, Nishat and Tulip Garden and get first hand appraisal of their upkeep and facilities there.
The Minister took complete round of all three gardens and directed the officers to undertake fresh face-lifting of these gardens as they serve major source of attraction for the lakhs of visitors from across the globe. He issued specific instructions for speeding up the renovation work of Mughal Hamam in Shalimar Garden and directed for restoring the original glory of this rare monument.
At Tulip Garden, the Minister directed the concerned to add more area for the tulip cultivation with additional varieties of the tulips for next year to attract maximum visitors in the only Tulip Garden of the State. He directed for formulation of a well-knit plan to develop the tulip bulbs locally to make the venture self-sustained. He also witnessed the sowing process of tulip bulbs which is presently carried out in the garden.
Director Floriculture, . Sunil Misri, who also accompanied the Minister informed that till date over 30 lakh people from across the world have visited the Mughal gardens and department has generated Rs. 2.59 crore as revenue out of entry fee and other sources. The department has also earned revenue of Rs. 38.25 lakh exclusively from the Tulip Garden during the current year as against Rs. 32 lakh during the previous year.
