Srinagar – To pay tributes to the great social reformer of the Sub Continent, Sir Syed Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and fervor at Government Degree College, Pampore here today.
On the occasion, Alumni of the Aligarh Muslim University, besides students from various Colleges participated. Principal, Government Degree College, Pampore, Prof. Showkat Ali Bhat presided over the function.
Speaking on the occasion, the services of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan to make Musli realize the indispensability of education were lauded, adding that he is the only towering personality among Muslim revivalists and social reformers of the Sub Continent who in his life time materialized his dream of establishing a College presently in the shape of Aligarh Muslim University, a premier institute of education. He also promoted literary spirit among Musli and worked for their empowerment, . Showkat said.
