Protesting Hike In Power Tariff, Demonstrators Block Traffic

Srinagar – Scores of people today blocked traffic on the busy Maulana Azad road here protesting what they said hefty hike in domestic power tariff.

The protesters from Maisuma locality chanted slogans against the Power Development Department (PDD) and burnt the electricity bills. The protest resulted in traffic jams at the City Centre, Budhash Chowk, Lal Chowk, Jehangir Chowk and Residency Road in Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital, officials said. After staging the protest, they dispersed peacefully.
