Srinagar, Oct. 13. Participating first time in any national level Chess competition, two JK Bank boys have moved into the 5th round of All India Patnitop Open Chess Tournament yesterday. The tournament is organized by J&K Chess Association and played under the aegis of All India Chess Federation (AICF) at Patnitop Jammu. The tournament is also approved by International Chess Federation (FIDE).
Adil Ashraf and Syed Tasaduq Madni, both JK bank officials have shown their talent in the game of Chess by winning three rounds out of four against top rated players of the country. While Adil Ashraf won his fourth round against Jatinder Singh, a high rated player of Punjab while holding black dice, Syed defeated another rated player of Madhya Pradesh, Akshit Agarwal in his fourth round with the white dice.
Attul Gupta, also a JK bank official and a reputed and rated Chess player of India, is one of the organizers of the tournament and presently Joint Secretary of All India Chess Federation has also moved to the fifth round. Seventy two players across the country are participating in the six-day long tournament among which most of the players are rated excluding the three players from Kashmir region, who are first time participating in any National level chess tournament. Mehboob-ul-Hassan is other Kashmiri player, a Junior engineer in R&B department who has moved in to the 5th round of the completion.
