Govt Initiated Measures, Launched Special Nakas

Srinagar – Replying to a calling attention moved by Murtaza Ahmed Khan Minister of State for Home . Nasir Aslam Wani informed the House that there were rumors of masked men and child lifting gang in some villages of district Poonch and Rajouri districts besides reports of some stone pelting incidents during night hours. He said such rumors were spread by some persons having vested interests to terrorize the people in the far flung areas by taking advantage of thick vegetation and the maize crops.

The Minister said that the government has taken several measures in order to restore the confidence among the people and to remove their fear psychosis. He said beat-wise night patrolling particularly in the peripheral villages have been intensified. He said apart from holding regular meetings with Panches and Sarpanches and other respectable personalities of the area, some suspected persons and released/surrendered militants/OGW’s are also being called to all the police stations in districts for questioning as a result there has been no report of stone pelting etc during last one week and no rumor movement of masked men in the area.

The Minister said that all the police stations have been briefed to remain extra vigilant, establish special nakas on the exit routes, activate VDC’s besides holding regular meetings with Sarpanches/ Panches to allay the fears and misgivings of the people. He said the public have been asked not to take the law and order in their hands.(Observer News Service)
