Srinagar – The elections to the Municipal Committees are going to be held very soon and the notification to the same would be issued very shortly.
The information was given in a high level meeting convened under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, Minister of State for Urban Development, Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief Secretary, . Madav Lal, Principal Secretary Home, Iqbal Khandey, Principal Secretary Housing & Urban Development, Suresh Kumar, Additional Director General of Police, . K. Rajindra, Chief Electoral Officer, Umang Narula and other senior officers were present.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed the Chief Electoral officer to complete all the formalities within the shortest span of time, so that the elections would be conducted to ensure the democratic decentralization of the powers. He said that by holding the elections to the Municipal Corporations and Committees the development of the urban areas would be given a fillip.
. Tara Chand also directed the officers to see to it that the bottlenecks, if any should be removed and they should work in a coordinated manner to ensure that these elections are completed within the shortest span of time.
