Protests held in Shopian against blasphemy

Srinagar – Protests were held today in main town Shopian over the Blasphemous movie on Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Peaceful Protesters marched through the streets of main town chanting pro Islamic and pro-freedom slogans .The protests were led by Hurriyat Conference (G) District President Shopian, Shakeel Ahmad and Majlis-e-Masharawat Spokesperson M. Shafi Khan.

An effigy of US President Barack Obama was also burnt at Gol Chowk Shopian. After the protest Shakeel Ahmad addressed people. In his speech he called America as an enemy of Islam and Muslims. He said that anti Islamic elements are active every where and Muslims has to be united to make their ill and evil intentions unsuccessful.  He also extended his support to the strike call of Mutthida Ullmae Ahl-e-Sunnat (MUAS) on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, students of the educational institutions of the district Shopain have decided to assemble in the premises of Government Degree Collage Shopain on Monday to demonstrate peaceful protest against the blasphemous movie.
