11-day Comedy Drama Festival to Begin from Sept 9

An 11-day Comedy Drama Festival ( from Sep. 9-19) being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Film Makers and Artists Co-operative Ltd in collaboration with State Information Department and J & K Academy of Arts, Cultural and Languages will begin here from September 9.

The festival is scheduled to be inaugurated by the Governor Mr. N.N.Vohra at SKICC at 5 p.m. The second edition of Comedy Drama Festival will comprise 11 plays depicting the culture heritage of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. The plays have been written/produced by the prominent writers of Jammu and Kashmir.

The last year’s festival achieved remarkable success wherein various theatre groups from across the State participated. The effort was highly appreciated by the local audience and artists. This year’s event will comprise Kashmiri, Urdu, Dogri and Ladakhi plays. On the inaugural day, Urdu play “Tu Tu Main Main”, written by famous writer Sa’adat Hussain Mantoo will be staged.
